GSCE Revision Club - Princes Trust Award

With financial support from the Princes Trust, HPCA set up Home Work Club to support children with their GSCE exams. The Homework Club was particularly aimed young people having difficulties with their school studies. The young people were falling behind because they could not keep up in class and struggled with their homework. In addition, most came from families where English was not the core language spoken in the household so parental support was also limited. Those who benefited from the provision had very low self esteem and were worried that they would not do well in their exams. This would mean not being able to go college or find a decent job.

The study club helped 30 young people from the area and the results were incredible. The sessions were free and all students learnt to work together as a team. On the back of this success, the HPCA was able to obtain further funding form the Kirklees Council for two more GCSE clubs benefiting about 125 students.

The HPCA Homework Club then went on to win 'the best impact award for the Yorkshire & Humberside region' from The Princes Trust. Well done all.
